Requesting an Email Alias
- An email alias is a pointer that directs people to your Gatorlink mailbox without changing the username you use to log in.
- For example, if your GatorLink username is albert.gator, but you legally change your name to Alfred Gator, you could request an email alias of albert.gator@ufl.edu.
- An email alias allows people to email you at your new email address without seeing your old name. You would continue to use your regular Gatorlink username and password to log in everywhere, however.
- In the above example: Alfred Gator would still log in using albert.gator, but people could email him at alfred.gator@ufl.edu.
- To qualify for an email alias, you must have a documented legal name change and it must be reflected on your student record, or HR record if you are an employee.
- Your former name must also be a part of your current GatorLink username. For example, if Albert Gator's GatorLink username was gatorfan1, then he would not qualify for an email alias.
