How to Enroll in Two-Factor Authentication

If you have just created your GatorLink account or if you are receive An ERROR stating your account requires the use of two-factor authentication (2FA) to access this application. You need to enroll in two-factor authentication.

Warning: To avoid issues with two-factor authentication, you should start the enrollment process from a computer, not a mobile device. Using a mobile device can lead to setting up device based authentication that will not work when you try to login on any device other than the mobile device you enrolled with. 
  1. On a computer connected to the Internet, navigate to https://it.ufl.edu/get-connected/multi-factor-authentication/getting-started/
  2. If you are not associated with UF Health, click the "UF GatorLink Enroll" button.  UF Health users please select the option for the UF Health area you are associated with.
  3. Enter your GatorLink username and password, or UF Health Credentials.
  4. Select "duo mobile" to add an Android/iOS device, or select the method you prefer. 
  5. If you are setting up a mobile device (Android/iOS) you will need to download the Duo Mobile app on the device you want to register.
  6. Once you have downloaded the Duo app. open it and tap "setup account."
  7. Tap "use a QR code"
  8. You will need to allow the app to use your camera, then on your computer, click "I have Duo Mobile installed."
  9. A QR code will appear, scan it with your mobile device. 
  10. Follow the prompts on your mobile device to finish adding your account.
  11. Once the account has been added in Duo Mobile, go back to your computer and follow the prompts to finish enrolling. 
Tip: Once you have enrolled, it is highly recommended that you add a secondary method of authentication just in case you lose access to your primary method.  You can find more information about adding a secondary method on here
