Research Account and Resource Management

This service type is used in conjunction with an external HiPerGator account request form - https://www.rc.ufl.edu/get-started/hipergator/request-external-hipergator-account/ - to request a GatorLink account that can be used to obtain or retain a HiPerGator user account. Depending on which credentials are used for authentication HiPerGator accounts can be classified as UF internal, federated, and external accounts.

Internal HiPerGator accounts use GatorLink credentials. UF persons who need a HiPerGator account must request it via the https://www.rc.ufl.edu/get-started/hipergator/request-hipergator-account/ form.

Federated HiPerGator accounts rely on the respective institution or organization to provide InCommon Federated authentication with respective institution’s credentials. A federated HiPerGator account can be requested via the https://www.rc.ufl.edu/get-started/hipergator/request-federated-hipergator-account/ form.

A prospective HiPerGator user who doesn’t have a UF GatorLink or an account with an institution that is a member of InCommon Federation must request an external GatorLink account. This also applies to current HiPerGator users who will be leaving UF if they will fall into the external user category when their GatorLink account expires. Use the https://www.rc.ufl.edu/get-started/hipergator/request-external-hipergator-account/ form to request a Research Computing Affiliated GatorLink account that can be used to request a HiPerGator account using the Internal HiPerGator account request form listed above. Note that an affiliated GatorLink account must be renewed, generally yearly, but depending on the agreement with the respective department.
