HiPerGator is the University of Florida's supercomputer. HiPerGator is a compute cluster that includes high-performance processors, GPUs, low-latency networking and high-performance storage and offers nodes for memory-intensive computation. UFIT Research Computing procures and maintains the cluster and its many parts, allowing researchers to focus on their research instead of hardware and software maintenance.
HiPerGator’s high-performance storage systems can be accessed from diverse interfaces, including Globus, Samba, rsync, and other tools.
HiPerGator’s computational resources can be accessed via ssh connections or through a variety of web interfaces such as Open OnDemand, JupyterHub, and Galaxy.
HiPerGator resources are allocated, used, and accounted for via scheduler (SLURM) software. UFIT Research computing support provides help with scheduled jobs and workflows on HiPerGator.
UFIT Research Computing maintains a diverse ecosystem of Research Software Applications on HiPerGator to provide researchers with tools to achieve their scientific computing goals.
Software support requests can include, but are not limited to
- New application or package installations or software updates on HiPerGator
- Adding hosted reference data and help with reference data on HiPerGator
- Help with application use and issues on HiPerGator
- Help with custom individual installs and software environments on HiPerGator
- Help with managing floating application licenses on HiPerGator
- Help with building and using containers on HiPerGator
- Help with building and executing computational workflows and using workflow management systems
- Help with domain specific (biology, chemistry, etc.) analyses and workflows within the limits of the support scope.
Research Computing staff provide support with AI-specific code and models.
Research Computing staff provide consulting services to research teams in order to write software, enhance existing software, provide training, or meet other software needs.
