Infrastructure

ICT provides shared IT Infrastructure to meet the needs of the University of Florida. It aims to consolidate and standardize IT infrastructure. It replaces, retires, and keeps the campus IT infrastructure and communication services current in order to optimize and maximize all IT provided services.

Identity and Access Management

Identity Access Management (IAM) is an authoritative association of people with identifiers such as ID numbers and ID cards, access credentials such as usernames/passwords and authorization to access data and services. Identity Access Management is fundamental for providing access to university services.

Physical Security

The Department of Physical Security was created in December 2018 and reports directly to the Vice President, Business Affairs (VPBA). This team is responsible for all physical security to support UF Departments and Colleges.

Monitoring

Functions that monitors all infrastructure - things that are used to transport information across the network is monitored by infrastructure monitoring.

Network

Network Infrastructure ties everything together by connecting individual workstations, servers, and networks to each other. This involves hardware, software, and wires. Concomitant with networking itself are the areas of telephony and network security. These three components work hand-in-hand to provide UF with a healthy, redundant, state-of-the-art computer communications environment. Network Infrastructure offers campus and state-wide network and Internet access including the UF Campus Core Backbone, Florida LambdaRail (FLR) and Internet2, Network Hardware & Configuration support. Ways to connect include Direct Connection, Wireless, VPN, and Walk-Up Ethernet.

Database

UF hosting provides managed SQL resources from within UFIT's enterprise infrastructure.

Hosting

UF Information Technology offers private and public cloud hosting solutions for university research and administrative needs. The Cloud Enablement team works with requesters to understand their specific needs and will work with you (and/or your team) to design, architect, implement, and manage applications to enable your project.

Data Center

UFIT manages and oversees operation of the UF campus intranet. Switches, routers, fiber and copper cables link together the various buildings on campus and connect them to the outside world and to each other. An additional service is to provide the network infrastructure in UF's two Data Centers.

Internal UFIT Workforce Support

Internal UFIT Workforce Support offers a range of services to support employees within the organization, providing assistance with various IT issues, such as troubleshooting software problems, fixing hardware malfunctions, and resolving network connectivity issues. We also offer training and guidance to help employees maximize their use of technology and applications.

Public Cloud

The Public Cloud Service provides access to computing resources from providers Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Microsoft Azure.
